Cornell opened its second shop on the cobbled streets of the historic city of Canterbury. Situated in the Buttermarket near the Christchurch gate entrance to the Cathedral. For over twenty five years Cornell has an established reputation of excellent service for the people of Canterbury as well as its many National and International visitors.
This amazing city is steeped in tradition with a fascinating history from humble beginnings as a Celtic settlement sitting along the Great River Stour. With the arrival of the Romans they gave the city the new name of Durovernum Cantiacorum and along with this came stone buildings with straight roads and houses with mosaic floors. Canterbury had its first Archbishop St Augustine in 597 AD. The Cathedral itself has an intriguing past, being burned to the ground twice, and the murder of Thomas Becket. It survived predominantly unscathed during the Second World War. Many pilgrims over the centuries have sort solace in Canterbury Cathedral. In recent year's tourists and pilgrims alike visit this remarkable city making Cornell a port of call for a reminder of their inspired visit.
We have a workshop on the premises that under takes bespoke commissions where we encourage our customers to share their ideas so we can make an individual exquisite piece to suit their wishes. Cornell also offers the facility for restoration and repair work on Platinum, Gold and Silver Jewellery. Our in-house Goldsmith has over 33 years experience.
